How the House is Argued: the Five Elements

Rather than government-versus-opposition benches, every delegate is assigned one element and argues its motion individually before the jury — with a Speaker/Chair presiding over each round.

Speaker / Chair

  • Presides over and conducts proceedings for the round
  • Maintains decorum, recognises delegates, and rules on points of order
  • Allocates speaking time — rulings may be raised with the Chair afterwards, not contested in the moment
